Name: Vanessa Madison
Code Name: Death
Age: 27
Affiliation: Disciple of Apocalypse
Mutant Characteristics:
Mutation: Vanessa possesses two sorts of different mutations. Her obvious mutation is her ability to use and absorb psionic energy. Vanessa's body is like a psionic collector and can store any psionic energy directed against her, allowing her to strengthen her own self and power or to redirect the attack back toward her attacker. Now, unlike some other psionic vampires, Vanessa cannot drain psionic energy from anyone unless said energy is used directly against her and even then, Vanessa can only store so much before being 'burned' out.
Vanessa is able to project mental psionic energy outward through her hands, forming a barrier and protective shield of sorts. The barrier is nearly invisible to the eye, but if one looks hard enough, they can see slight waves and ripples in the air around Vanessa. The barrier can be formed in any size and instantly with just a thought on Vanessa's part, however the larger the diameter of the barrier the more stress it puts on Vanessa's mind and body. When erected, anything not specified in Vanessa's mind (i.e. chairs, flooring, people) are violently pushed back unless they are heavy or strong enough to resist the push of her mental energy (i.e. Juggernaut, Blob, or any other extremely heavy person or object). Vanessa's body also emits a small psionic shielding of its own, protecting her mind from weaker telepaths, however, those such as Emma Frost or the likes of Professor Xavier and Jean Grey could easily tear down said defenses and leave her helpless.
The other mutation Vanessa possesses is a very dense skeletal structure, her bones akin to the strength of steel. While dislocations are possible, breaking Vanessa in any physical way is almost impossible. Mutants with enhanced strength (i.e. those such as Juggernaut or Rogue) are fully capable of breaking Vanessa's bones. Armor piercing bullets can shatter Vanessa's bones and large caliber weaponry, such as a .357 are also quite deadly. While not very large, Vanessa does work out, so couple that with her enhanced bone structure and taking a direct hit from her is like being hit with a steel pipe or hammer.
Manifestations: None
Class: 4
The Character
Personality: Vanessa is a rather bitter and self destructive individual with severely violent tendencies. Vanessa's anger is mostly what fuels her, pushing her to continue on even when she doesn't want to, forcing her to indulge in certain vices to keep from crossing over the sanity boarder completely. Alcohol of any sort has become a major problem over the past years and her dependency on it is very unnerving. However, just because Vanessa is an alcoholic, does not mean she cannot focus on matters at hand. She takes her role as one of Apocalypse's Horsemen very seriously and pours every ounce of her twisted being into said role, going that extra mile to please her master.
Her darker view on life (not to mention all the crap she was forced to live through growing up) has developed within her a twisted and disturbing taste. The line between pain and pleasure has merged completely, leaving Vanessa some what of a sadist and masochist, perhaps a reason as to why no one (man nor woman) stick around long enough to try a second go with her.
Physical Description: Vanessa is rather small and thin, appearing to be a fragile and scared young woman. She stands around 5'5" and weighs about 126 lbs with long black hair and a rather somber and blank expression about her face. She prefers to wear casual clothing, loose fitting tank tops or t-shirts and blue jeans and every once in a while, she will wear a dress of sorts. Vanessa wears dark make-up around her eyes and black fingernail polish to reflect her sullen and bitter mood. Her eyes are wild and dark black in color.
History: Vanessa was born into a world that would hate her and to parents who didn't give a damn for her. Her mother was a prostitute on the side streets of Death Row Alley (a slum district in the downtown area of New York), so pin pointing exactly who Vanessa's father is would be near impossible. The names of Vanessa's parents is lost, even to her as her mother aptly dumped her infant child on the steps of a church after giving birth to her, then disappearing back to the drug addicted lifestyle which she stumbled about in.
The pastor of the church found the small baby Vanessa the next morning, near dead from the cold and lack of food. Through a miracle (or at least that was what the pastor said and thought), Vanessa was able to be revived at the hospital right down the street. The church pastor was the only known living contact for the young Vanessa, and as such, she was given to him to place in the church orphanage of St. Luke's. However, being placed in such a supposed loving and heart felt place, Vanessa grew up quite the dark and distant young woman.
Vanessa was given the same advantages growing up as the rest of the children, albeit in her eyes, she saw it all too differently. The other children steered clear from her, often times making fun of her because of her shy and silent behavior, more times than not, often tormenting her for no justifiable reason other than the reason she was different. Of course, who growing up wasn't tormented, but when your an orphan, well...things like that seem to only add to whatever mental problems you have, which was the case with miss Vanessa.
As the years went by, Vanessa was overlooked and avoided by any of the potential would be adoptive parents, her sullen mood and look coupled with her sharp tongue being the usual reasons why she was left behind. Year after year, Vanessa dealt with the rejection of couple after couple, her social complex and view of those around her becoming more and more twisted, her malice taken an even more deep root within her heart. On her eighteenth birthday, Vanessa was allowed to leave the orphanage, as she was now an adult and no longer a child, and in the age old typical fashion, she ended up much like her birth mother, walking the streets doing what she could to get by. This wasn't of course the life she wanted, but then again, Vanessa seemed to bring it on herself, choosing decisions which would only hurt her in the end, as if she had some sort of sick wish to suffer. It was one of the these decisions which helped bring about the manifestation of her latent mutant ability, (well one of the many). You see, Vanessa somehow or another (a story we shall keep to ourselves) ended up in a drug deal gone bad, namely at the dangerous end of a .357 Magnum. However, just as the dealer fired upon Vanessa, she threw her hands up, creating a psionic barrier which deflected the bullet and through an odd circumstance, sent the projectile straight back at the man who shot, killing him instead.
Vanessa spent the next few weeks in total confusion and paranoia, for being a mutant brought with it an entirely new set of problems and circumstances, but thanks to a chance encounter with a member of Magneto's Brotherhood, Vanessa found a place within the ranks. Of course, the Brotherhood really wasn't for Vanessa and after a year or so, she left the terrorist organization, finding solace in the ideas of another, a mutant by the name of Apocalypse. Here she learned of the self proclaimed god's ideas and ways, clinging to them with a rabid interest and finding a rather comfortable life within the ranks of his army. Her loyalty to Lord Apocalypse was surprising but as Apocalypse taught, the strong ruled and Vanessa knew who was the stronger. It was this loyalty which caught Apocalypse's eye, for one of the other followers sought to challenge Apocalypse, but before the Forever Walker could accept, Vanessa killed the man in quite the bloody fashion. It was in this battle that her secondary mutations emerged, her stamina and agility far surpassing most of the others around her, including the man she fought. Vanessa beat the other mutant to death, with her bare fists, caving in his skull, something which attracted Apocalypse's attention even more. He took young Vanessa under his wing and subjected her to numerous tests, discovering her mutant ability and the condition of her body. Her skeleton was stronger than most, the density of her bones the same as steel and her endurance and agility off the charts, all things which the Forever Walker looked for in those he chose to be his Horsemen.
Vanessa spent the next several years subjected to genetic tampering and physical training, molding her to be an elite weapon. She was given the title of Death, as her specialty seemed to be the removal of those around her and her callous reaction to killing. Now, usually when someone is operated on and treated like this, they usually hate the ones that do it to them, but in Vanessa's case, this was the first source of real interest and intention she had ever received and in some twisted way, she developed a bond with her new master, cementing her loyalty to his ideas and cause.
Sample: Not sure if you'll need a sample as you know the character, but if you want one, just let me know.
