Format: Message Board (but AIM logs accepted)
Genre: X-Men/Marvel -- any 'Verse
Name: The X Project

Minimum Age Requirement: 18
Specific Requirements: A decent writing ability and the desire to rp in a Marvel setting.
The X Project is every Marvel rpg is one. It's a place to rp whoever, whenever and whatever you want.
How does it work and why should I bother?
The X-Project is a “collaborative fanfiction community.” What that means is that we like Role-Playing out stories, but without restriction of any kind. All we do is mild quality control here—we ask for writing samples and so long as it isn’t a complete mismatch, we’d love to have you. After that, what you write is up to you and the others here.
Our major goal is to have fun with and inspire productivity in each other. How many times have you been talking to a fellow writer and come up with a brilliant idea for a great fanfic, involving one of your favorite characters and one of theirs? Loads of times, probably.
But how many times have you ever actually written it?
Yeah. Maybe once or twice. Max. Or you just ended up doing it yourself, but it wasn’t the same.
When there’s no community, no tangible evidence of progress and interest from your fellow writers, it’s easy to drop the idea and lose interest. And even at a traditional role-playing game, when you get an idea it may not be for the character you’ve applied for, or even in the same universe. All those ideas, wasted!
Never again! Get the power up and win the game! Write what you want when you want—with your choice of characters and within your own time frame. All we provide is the forum. You do the rest.
At The X Project You Can:
-Write a story with one, two or even twenty of your favorite friends, each of you playing whichever character you want (and NPCing whoever you want, if no one wants to play them or you don’t WANT anyone to play them) in a forum setting.
-Choose whatever character for whatever story/thread you like. If you only ever want to write Nightcrawler, that’s cool—just find people who want to play with you and play on!
-Choose who you want to write with. No one is obligated to play with anyone else, go where the ideas take you.
-Write tiny little silly scenes that go nowhere but you just thought would be entertaining. Maybe Northstar and Nightcrawler want to take the X-Jet out for a joyride, suddenly get hungry and stop for wings at Hooters. And they drink beer and get philosophical and eat a mountain of hot wings surrounded by Hooters Girls. You get the point.
-Write big long involved fic that you later edit up and post to ff.n or whatever (assuming all parties are aware of and approving of this activity. And are fully credited.)
-Swear every other word/write smut/be graphically violent/be kinky/write slash. We don’t care what you write, that’s the point! We do not support any kind of censorship—all we ask is that you label threads with possibly offensive/adult content so those who dislike that sort of thing can spare their eyes.
-Write a badass fight scene. That has nothing to do with anything at all. Just random carnage and kicking of butt.
-Attempt a completely random and ridiculous pairing. Sage and The Human Torch meet and fall in love. Oh really? Sure, why the hell not. You have someone who wants to write that with you, by all means, please do. Traumatize us, sure!
-Attempt something you’ve always wanted to. If your OTP is Pyro/Mystique X-Men movieverse, but you never got the chance to write it with your favorite Pyro player at that board ages ago… go for it now! You know you want to. If you wanted to re-write that episode of Evolution where Jean’s powers freak out so it kills her (obviously with your favorite Scott player)—hey, enjoy your angst!
-Write in whatever Marvelverse (Ultimate, 616, AoA, 1602, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Evolution, MTV’s Spider-Man, Movieverses, invented AUs where the X-Men are suddenly the cast of the Pirates of Penzance, whatever) you desire to write in. Write an X-Men Evolution version of Spider-Man and the Black Cat one day and write Movie Spidey and Harry out on the town the next.
-Clean up and post an RP you and another member did in IM as a fic. Or if you never got to finish your masterpiece thread in an RP that went the way of all things.... yeah. Finish it up, and get some closure to your awesomeness.
-Work on your own schedule. You may be working on three threads at once, all of which you post to five times a day, or you may work on none for months at a time. Membership is for as long as you want it, and you can use the forum provided whenever the Marvel Muses move you. (Sorry about that alliteration…it happens sometimes.) It’s between you and the people involved in threads with you how fast you move.
-Kill characters! Yay! Er…
-Read loads of fun threads and fics in the making by great Marvelverse authors. And discover new and hopefully inspiring writers, characters and ideas in the process
