Prepare For Glory!
Taken from the graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is an adaptation of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. and several other run ins between the proud Spartans and the Persian Conqueror Xerxes. No Spartan King has ever gone to war without the Oracle's blessing so King Leonidas seeks their favor with what they most desire, gold. Spartan Society values not wealth but strength and duty. Despite the Ephors' warning that the war cannot occur, Spartan King Leonidas takes 300 of his best soldiers serving as his personal guard to the Hot Gates.
His goal is to hold back and fight off the enormous forces of King Xerxes, the Persian conquerer determined to enslave Greece. On their way to Victory!, the Spartan 300 are joined by a group of Arcadians and other Greeks. Grossly outnumbered, the Spartans openly face certain death, living by the noble creed 'No Retreat, No Surrender!' Left alone, abandoned by their fellow countrymen, Leonidas embraces what for all Spartans is the desired outcome of life for in battle a Spartan Warrior must return with his shield or upon it. He and his men chose to stand, laughing in the face of annihilation, as the God King Xerxes is proven to be all too human.
A remarkable tale of holding fast to your ideals in the face of unsurmountable odds.
How we will build upon that idea:
Our story begins prior to the journey to the Hot Gates and the battle to the death at Thermopylae giving us all an opportunity to place our own spin on the characters created by Frank Miller and history itself. Set one month before the Persian messenger carries the skulls of dead kings to darken the door of noble King Leonidas, our story will interweave a rich tapestry of relationships making the tragic yet heroic fate of the 300 all the more poignant and human. We will continue onward then, with a much larger cast of Original Characters obviously, striving to not only avenge the deaths of our heroes but to join the rest of Greece as it defends its lands from slavery and invasion.
